- The just released Nintendo Today app screenes give us another look at the new Joy-Cons
- The picture shows Joy-Cons with an extra button in front of Switch 2
- It’s back to see what the “C” button is for.
While Nintendo did not throw many details of the upcoming Switch 2 during its direct power earlier today (March 27, 2025), the gaming giant let some facts about the upcoming, highly expected console slip through the cracks.
In addition to many new titles coming to the current Switch and Switch Oled, as well as probably supporting Switch 2, the company also dropped a new app. No, not an update to Nintendo Music, but the brand new Nintendo Today app for Android and iOS.
It is out now and accessible to download, but as first discovered by VCG, one of the screens in both the App Store and the Play Store shows a Nintendo Switch 2, specifically Joy-Cons … and OH ever made it some talk.
At first glance, it is Joy-Cons associated with forming a controller with the head hull in contact 2 behind it, but look a little closer and as some would say, “Improve. “The real Joy -Con with the red highlights has a ‘C’ button under the home button.
It almost confirms the existence of the ‘C’ button and that it will be part of Switch 2 in a fairly prominent place on the main controllers of the console. Details, however, get a little more scarce after that, and we will probably have to wait for the company to make it officially during April 2, 2025, Nintendo Direct, which is promised to be about Switch 2. Basically the opposite of today’s former Nintendo Direct.
And for those who speculated, this extra button was visible in the original Switch 2 launch video, but it didn’t have a C on it. Similarly, the ‘C’ button was noticeably absent on Switch, Switch Lite and Switch Oled, but it has a bit of a story with Nintendo’s previous consoles. It appeared on Wii, Gamecube, new 3DS and New 3DS XL.
Techradar’s own Dash Woods believes it can enable a new mouse state of Joy-Cons-I The essentials act as a new way of controlling Switch 2 and navigating the interface. Given the kicking stand, much more skilled looks on Switch 2 from Teaser videos, it may make sense as you may be able to support the console and then use it with a mouse for specific titles.
Nintendo might just try to make it a little easier on Joy-Cons; It can also be something else completely, like a new type of connection. It can also be to ‘society’ that enables a new type of hub – maybe MII’s will return? For the time being, it is anyone’s guess, but we appreciate finding it in a new app from Nintendo, and fortunately the Switch 2 Direct Stream is only days away.
