Secretary Kristi Noem said on Monday that the Department of Homeland Security has “no credible threats” at the Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans.
Noem spoke at a press conference ahead of the Super Bowl between Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. While it’s all about football in the “big light” this week, discussions about security for this massive event naturally came up after New Year’s terrorist attack on the city’s historic Bourbon Street.
Terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar killed 14 civilians and wounded 57 others after hitting his Ford F-150 truck through crowds celebrating on the famous street around 10 pm. 3 on January 1st. Jabbar was killed during a shootout with police.

NFL held a press conference on public security on Monday in New Orleans, where Noem spoke with Cathy L. Lanier, League’s Chief Security Officer, Eric Delaune, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge, Colonel Robert P. Hodges, Louisiana State Police Superintendent, and Anne Kirkpatrick, New Orleans Police Department Superintendent.
Noem discussed the reality of the father around the world, but when it comes to events here in the US, she was aware of how safe Super Bowl would be.

“The world is a much more dangerous place, but here in the home country we are safe and I will tell you that right now we have no specific credible threats to this event at the Super Bowl that I think should give us all a sense of security , but also to know that we will customize it as needed, ”she explained.
Noem also affected to protect “our traditions” as the Super Bowl when it comes to everyone who does their part to provide a safe environment for those traveling to the city for the big game.
“[It] exemplifies how we meet to protect our traditions, “she said.” How we meet to ensure that the public is well -informed and gets the chance to celebrate something very special for us, for our culture, for our people, to our families. But we also do it in a way that is reactive to the current environment we see in the world today. “

New Orleans expect 125,000 visitors to converge on their city limits, beginning Wednesday, where parties, concerts and other events will happen during the week leading up to the game.
“We go beyond what we’ve seen in the past when we’ve been hosting before,” said New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell during a news conference. “We know we are safer than we’ve ever been before.”
Security will be at the forefront of state, federal and local law enforcement authorities with boots on the ground under the Super Bowl, said Lanier, although details of protocol were left unsaid.

There will also be federal air ants that are armed stationed around the city’s public transport hubs that scan for suspicious people and activities while also protecting against drones. There is a ban on drones around the Superdome and the center of New Orleans during the week and fly restrictions up to 18,000 feet per year. Federal Aviation Administration.
New Orleans has already begun to start shutting down and limiting traffic on roads near Superdome. Delaune also mentioned that Superdome’s circumference will have explosion barriers, which requires trucks to pass through giant X -ray machines typically seen at border crossings to ensure security around the site of the Super Bowl Lix.
From bomb-sniffing dogs, to improved security infrastructure, to more labor and resources, all stops are pulled out to ensure the security of any individual on the way to New Orleans to experience the NFL’s last game in the 2024 season.
This security is transferred to New Orleans’ famous Mardi Gras season, which has already begun.
