Lahore:
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has clarified that the paint used on bicycle paths in Lahore was used by a local company on a trial basis under one year warranty.
She emphasized in a statement that Punjab -Government had not been used and that no payment had been made to the company.
“As part of the trial phase, the same company will use the paint at no extra cost,” she said, responding to recent comments from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa advisor Barrister Saif.
Drawing a comparison of the case with Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, she said, “Over the past five years, Peshawar BRT has been exposed to sustained inefficiency with more downtime than operational time and has often been involved in accidents. “
She added, “The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government still owes the RS60 billion for the Peshawar Metro project, with the BRT case pending in an international court.”
She said attorney Saif deflects the attention of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwas is missing in unreasonably targeting Punjab’s progress.
“Those who are unable to demonstrate their own government’s results often go to undermine the successful initiatives of others,” she noted.
She said, “So far, the KP government’s spokesman has failed to present any report on his chief minister’s performance. Meanwhile, the citizens of KP continue to risk their lives and cross rivers on provisional fleets and containers.”
The minister said, “After the successful launches of Metro Bus and Orange Train Systems promote Punjab now plans for tram services and the underground Metro Green Line project to further improve urban.”
