No plans for new taxes, the government to focus on meeting revenue targets

Parliamentary Secretary for Funding, Saad Waseem Sheikh, assured the National Assembly on Friday that the government has no plans to impose additional taxes.

In a speech during the National Assembly’s questioning on Friday, Sheikh clarified that the government has no plans to introduce additional taxes, which emphasized the efforts to meet this year’s revenue collection target.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, expressed confidence that new telecom units will soon enter Pakistan’s market.

She confirmed that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has already begun to issue virtual network licenses and paved the way for increased competition in the telecommunications sector. She added that a spectrum auction is planned for the middle year, which further strengthens the telecommunications landscape.

In other updates, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Development, Wajiha Qamar, announced the first phase of the seventh agricultural count aimed at supporting informed decision -making for the agricultural sector’s growth.

In addition, parliamentary secretary of education, Farah Naz Akbar, shared that the Cambridge education system will be introduced in four schools in the public sector in Islamabad, which started in April, marking a pilot project for future expansion.
