No power outage under Ashura that was ordered discos

Islamabad:

The Ministry of Energy has issued orders for uninterrupted power supply throughout the country under Muharram and instructed the distribution companies (discos) to ensure immediate repair or replacement of defective equipment in their system.

Energy Minister Awais Leghari has issued the instructions to the CEO of all discos and said the holy month of Muharram approached when millions of people participate in collections and processions across the country.

“As you realize, the Holy Month Muharramul Haram is approaching, where millions of devoted/mourners all over Pakistan will participate in Majalis and Processions to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA),” he said.

“As the Holy Month Muharram falls in July, and heat waves are expected, it is very necessary that all necessary measures be taken to ensure that uninterrupted electricity supply – avoid inconvenience to the public,” it added.

In this regard, the minister asked the discos to take the action on an urgent basis, including plan for preventive maintenance and load management; form emergency teams; And provide generator and backup support.

“Make thorough inspections of all transmission and distribution networks, especially in areas where Majalis and Processions are expected. Make sure all incorrect equipment is immediately repaired or replaced to prevent power breaks,” it states.

“High alarm dedicated emergency teams are implementing all of Muharram, especially on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, to tackle any power disorders right away,” it added.

The Minister asked the disco officials to coordinate with district administrations, law enforcement authorities and organizers of religious gatherings to identify critical locations that require priority power supply and backup schemes.

The Minister emphasized the need to communicate proactively with consumers, especially imambargahs and mosques, regarding planned maintenance or potential load management measures to minimize disadvantages.

He emphasized to update the inventory to ensure that there was sufficient number of transformers and other materials available in each subdivision. “Provide standbyer reinforcers and UPS systems in sensitive places to give backup stream in case of lattice problems.”

Furthermore, the Minister instructed to assign customs guidance and establish dedicated control centers to ensure that the clock’s availability of technical and operational staff quickly responds to any power -related problems.

“Muharram’s holiness requires our greatest obligation to serve the public with diligence and respect. Any negligence in this regard will be seen seriously,” he said, asking the officials to submit an observational report.
