No removal or resignation of ajk PM, Islamabad clarifies in the middle of dismissal reports

The Federal Parliament Minister, dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has rejected media reports claiming that Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Anwarul Haq are removed from office over his alleged deficiency response to the recent turmoil in the region.

In a speech with journalists in the federal capital, Chaudhry said there was no truth to the reports of AJK Premier’s removal and added that neither a resignation nor such a step was under consideration. He also said that no movement had taken place in this regard.

Previously, there were swirling reports that a high -level meeting chairman of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to remove AJK PM from Embedet.

A section of the media reported that the Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party would form a common strategy for the future following consultations held during the meeting, chairman of the Prime Minister.

The decision to remove the AJK prime minister was allegedly made due to his defective reaction to the recent turmoil in the region, reported the reports, adding that he could not restore normality during the agitation, causing the federal government to intervene and abuse tension through negotiations with local leaders.

AJK has witnessed violent protests that have demanded nine lives and left dozens wounded. Quiet was eventually restored after a government committee held successful negotiations with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).

The tense situation in AJK caught on for about a week when Jaac observed a closed strike that required reforms and improved public services in the region.

During the strike, AJK experienced a communication interruption and reports of violence events from Dhirkot and other areas were reported. According to official figures, 172 policemen and 50 civilians sustained injuries to the clashes.

In response to the deteriorating situation, the government formed a committee with two members consisting of Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Federal Minister of Kashmir affairs Engr Amir Muqam to hold conversations with the JAAC leadership in Muzaffarabad.

Jaac presented a wide charter with demands, including an end to the privileges of the ruling elite, the abolition of 12 assembly seats reserved for refugees and scrapping the quota system.

‘Historical’ 25-point agreement to abuse tension

After days of protests and tensions in AJK, a major breakthrough was achieved last week when the federal government, the AJK administration and Jaac reached an agreement in what leaders hailed as a “historic solution”.

The agreement covers 12 core and 13 additional points. Among the most important provisions, families of the killers in the violence on October 1 to October 2nd will be compensated on a par with security staff and given government jobs, while the wounded will receive RS1 million each.

A judicial commission will be composed to investigate the events. Two new educational boards will be established in Muzaffarabad and Poonch, which are linked to the federal board of Islamabad. Victims of the Mangla Dam extension project will be transferred to the possession of land within 30 days. Amendments to the Local Government Act in 1990 are adopted within 90 days.

Within 15 days, the AJK government will release funds for health cards, and MRI and CT scanning machines will be delivered in each district. The federal government will give RS10 billion to upgrade AJK’s electricity system.

The AJK cabinet will be uncovered to 20 ministers and advisers, while the number of secretaries does not exceed 20. Accountability Bureau and Anti-Corruption Department will be merged and adapted to NAB LOVE. Feasibility studies will be carried out for two tunnels on KAHORI/CAMPS AND CHAPLANI NEELUM ROADS.

A high -level committee will investigate the issue of refugee assembly members with their perks and funds suspended until the final report. All Kashmiris, which were arrested during Protests 2 to 3 October, are released.

Further clauses included judicial investigations of events in Banjosa, Muzaffarabad, Palandri, Dhirkot, Mirpur and Rawalakot, which sets a timeframe for Mirpur International Airport Project, harmonizes property transfer fees with Punjab and KP, which ends with feasibility studies for larger water defense Driver theaters and nurses at t tehsil -manager projects.

PM Shehbaz welcomed the success of the negotiation process in Azad Kashmir. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the members of the Negotiating Committee, praised the Prime Minister their individual and collective efforts and called the development a “great achievement for Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir”.
