North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick seems to remain cemented in Athletic Director Lawrence R. “Bubba” Cunningham’s good grills.
Cunningham’s department recently denied reports that Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, was banned effectively from UNC’s athletics department and team buildings.
On Tuesday, Cunningham shared some details of the working conditions he has built with the former NFL coach.

“Bill has been great to work with,” Cunningham told ESPN. “He talked about practicing as a professional, and he runs a professional organization that teaches students to be a professional in all aspects of their lives. He is a very decisive, professional individual, and that is how he carries himself and the way he completes the program.”

While Cunningham was willing to go into detail about Belichick’s football -related relationships, he was less upcoming when questions were raised about Belichick’s personal life. When Cunningham was asked a question that suggested that Hudson’s presence created “distractions”, he went out and said, “Bill is an incredibly focused person.”

Cunningham made the comments the same day as Belichick’s appearance at ESPN. During the interview, the six-time Super Bowl winner said his romance with Hudson is “off to the side.”
“It’s a personal relationship and she has nothing to do with UNC football,” Belichick said.

The discussion also marked the 73-year-old first TV interview since his notorious Sitdown with “CBS News Sunday Morning.”
Interviewed was part of a promotional tour of Belichick’s new book, “The Art of Winning – Lessons From My Life in Football.” At times during the conversation, Hudson was accused of trying to assert her control.
Hudson also faced criticism of her reported commitment to North Carolina, who lost about the opportunity to appear on HBO’s “Hard Banks.” According to Athletic, Hudson played a “instrumental role” in HBO that pulled the plug on the potential production of the UNC-focused documents.
The report also noted that Hudson had asked to be “heavily involved in the project.”
Belichick has been publicly linked to 24-year-old Hudson since 2023. In a statement released after the CBS interview, Belichick said he met Hudson on a flight in 2021.
