Full spoilers immediately follow for Andor Season 2 section 6.
Andor Star Faye Marsay has revealed how Cinta’s death will affect her character’s history through the rest of season 2.
Speaking to Techradar before Andor Season 2’s launch suggested Marsay that the shocking event will leave a lasting impression on well, not least because of Romeo and Juliet-style nature of the relationship she had with Varada Sethus Cinta.
Cinta’s death is a heartbreaking and character -defining moment too well. In spite of their alienation in Andor Season 1’s last half, and Cinta’s decision not to contact well until suddenly appearing at Chandrila to kidnap (and presumably kill) Mon Mothma’s long -standing friend Tay in Season 2 Section 3, the romantically tangled couple still clearly to each other.
The evidence of it is on full view in their possible reunion on Ghorman in this season’s sixth chapter, entitled ‘What A Festive Evening’. After Cassian refuses to give Luthen’s commandments – essentially help to encourage a riot that can lead to the death of hundreds of Ghorman’s citizens – Luthen sends Vel and Cinta to Ghorman to help his burgeoning opposition to the galactic empire.
It is a decision that turns out to be fatal to Cinta and which may be devastating enough that may well reconsider her loyalty to Luthen.
In fact, after a few heart-to-heart that results in the duo recreating their relationship, helping well and Cinta Ghorman’s gang of freedom fighters to disturb an empire convoy, stealing the arms that said convoy is sent through Ghorman’s streets and escapes at night.
It would nevertheless be the case if this was not a trap laid by the empire’s imperial security agency. Long Story Short, a Ghorman citizen who is loyal to the empire, interrupts the rebeller’s attack, a scrub follows, and in the midst of the confusion, Cinta is accidentally shot and killed by a member of the Ghorman resistance.
In a Star Wars -tv series that has already delivered its reasonable proportion of tragedies – I still pour one off the bass after his death in this season’s third episode – that’s another narrative blow to the resistance. Too well, Cinta’s death is even more personal, and it may prove to be a turning point in the Disney+ show that can force her to consider her allegiance to Luthen and the Rebel Alliance.
“Too well, the rebellion has always come first,” Marsay told me when I asked about the latest soulful event in one of the best Disney+ shows. “The only time that has really been tested is with this relationship with Cinta. Except for the rebellion, that’s the only thing she could have chosen.
“But Cinta is stuck in the thinking of ‘The rebellion comes first’ and Val suffers from it,” Marsay continued. “It’s a relationship they want, but can’t have.
“When Cinta is no longer with us, it really doesn’t have anything else to live for. In itself, it’s really sad, because now she has a decision to make. She can either put her energy into the thing that she has believed so passionately from the beginning or walk away from it completely. You want to see what decision she makes in the episodes still coming.”
Andor season 2 -episodes 1 to 6 is out now. Another three episodes arrive on May 6/7, when the last trio was released on May 13, May 14.
