Notre Dame, who fought against Irish men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry, went on a fiery race on Sunday and defended the team after a 15-point loss to Louisville Cardinals.
Shrewsberry promised to turn the program and even hit the microphone on the podium after the fighting Irish fell to 11-14 overall and 5-9 against ACC opponents.

Notre Dame lost to Louisville, 75-60.
“I understand that many people have quit us,” the coach said. “Well deserved. If you hate me, absolutely man. Great. If you think I suck if you think I can’t work out I am with you, man, good. Good for you because you have allowed to have opinions.
Shrewsberry promised that the team would not stop in the season, even then the prospects of making the tournament look gloomy.

“I believe in myself and I believe in these guys. … Don’t give up on these kids, man,” he added. “What have they done for people to give up on them? I know if you are not with us because we are losing, you will not come and see us, fine. Fine. But do it because of me then not these kids .
“I don’t care about someone else’s opinion. I know who I am. I know I can train basketball. I know I am turning this program. If you already gave up on me I will not see you back here.
Shrewsberry took over for Mike Brey, who left Notre Dame after the 2022-23 season. He was 37-31 as Penn State’s main coach and led them to a NCAA tournament performance in his second season.
