ISLAMABAD:

The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi, has been entrusted to conduct the National Registration Examination (NRE) to ensure credibility, integrity and transparency, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.

The NRE for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) is a mandatory requirement under an Act of Parliament and is designed to promote transparency, standardization and quality in medical and dental education and professional practice in Pakistan.

The NRE is a two-stage examination conducted at least twice a year, in accordance with the approved NRE standards, structure and syllabus. NUMS has been conducting the survey for the last two years and is responsible for the paper layout, compilation and declaration of final results.

According to the press release, the exam is conducted on a syllabus similar to the MBBS and BDS programs in Pakistan. It said that Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has no direct role in paper development, exam conduct or result preparation for NRE.
