- Nvidia allegedly planned the release of RTX 5000 laptops for January 2025
- Rumors claim that the original timeframe was pushed back to March (and April for Notebooks with lower level)
- This is apparently wrapped in chip production and fine tuning problems where GPUs are not a priority compared to AI graphics card
Nvidia’s stock levels for its Blackwell GeForce GPUs are becoming an increasing source of concern, and the brows for PC players hoping to get an RTX 5000 graphics card, is no less furrowed by fresh news from grapes
This is actually about the topic of Laptop GPUs, but it applies more far -reaching to the overall situation with Nvidia’s Blackwell chips that we see.
With RTX 5000-Laptop computers, Nvidia already told us that RTX 5090, 5080 and 5070 TI-Laptop computers need to be launched in March-with pre-orders that go live on February 25-and then Notebooks with RTX 5070 should not first
As Videocardz noted, a report from Digitime’s words from the portable supply chain, which Nvidia originally carried a January debut for high-end Blackwell-laptop computers that have been pushed back to March. And that the middle-to-Lave-end-end-Book-Breeding referring to those who carry the RTX 5070-presumably scheduled for March, but were pushed for April.
Add lots of skepticism as always and we wouldn’t exactly call a laptop that packs an RTX 5070 something like ‘lower level’ in any way. Perhaps translation problems come a bit in play there, unless the report also refers to the RTX 5060 models (but they have not yet been announced by NVIDIA).
In any case, the really interesting bit with this article is that Digitimes gives us a reason for this apparent delay, which is unexpected by industry as a whole, namely that NVIDIA gets its R&D resources stretched too far in different ways.
Basically, the broad claim is that “debugging” (fine -tuning and honey) needed for Nvidia’s Blackwell data center and game products, the company draws in this way and that, and something must give. And guess what? It is not AI or heavy weight GPUs get the short end of the stick as this is where the big money is – it is the less profitable game graphics cards.
Or that’s the theory anyway, and it seems to be a credible enough piece of speculation.
Digitimes reports that anonymous sources from the supply chain have said, “Nvidia, which has never been too late [to launch a product] Previously, this situation also encountered. It is probably related to Nvidia’s full sprint to AI servers. Although there are differences in server and PC chip design and manufacturing processes, the company’s resource allocation can still affect the troubleshooting efficiency of new products. “
On top of this buzzing further of the reasons for the portable GPU delay point for performance falling below expectations, and “Screen problems after hardware are turned on” (again, be very careful with potential translation problems here, and remember all this is just rumors ).
Analysis: More stock windings?
This alleged to push back the portable GPU launch time frame is unusual for Nvidia, which generally hits these dates bang (although the stock level is not always guaranteed to be healthy, which we have recently seen with RTX 5090 and 5080 Desktop GPUs and Also earlier).
In fact, I agree, it is unusual for NVIDIA not to create an announced launch time frame, and maybe telling, that’s exactly what happened to the RTX 5070 Desktop graphics card. Both this GPU and its 5070 ten -Desktop siblings had been confirmed for February, and then suddenly we heard that it will now be March 5 for the RTX 5070, with Nvidia glossing it. (RTX 5070 ten still due in February, next week, fact).
All this and various rumors of stock problems for RTX 5070 and 5060 Desktop models, additional fans of Flames of Worry around Blackwell Gaming GPUs in general. And this Digitimes -Report also notes that “No one can guarantee if the release date [of RTX 5000 laptops] will be expanded, ”which suggests that a possible additional delay could even be in the cards.
Which all add to the general downfall and gloom in the Blackwell launch so far. The rumors that Peddlers get a little too high and consistent to my liking with regard to all this fretting, that’s for sure.
