- Nvidia apparently scales back RTX 4060 -Production, Big Time
- This is another tip that RTX 5060 could arrive in March
- Do not panic though if you want an RTX 4060 as they do not disappear from the shelves anytime soon
Nvidia is now reducing the drastic production volume for its RTX 4060 graphics cards, whose fresh speculation from those who are apparently on are correct.
The first thing that is aware of is that this comes from the Board Channel Forum in China (via Videocardz), a regular source of gossip on hardware-related events populated by people close to the supply chain over in Asia.
As such, the rumor specifically relates to this region, but if Nvidia draws the supply of chips to RTX 4060 graphics cards in Asia, the same thing will certainly happen worldwide.
According to The Post on the forum, from February-so this is already in the process of reducing NVIDIA RTX 4060 Chip Supply to its third-party graphics card making partners with at least 60% (compared to the last quarter of 2024).
In short, this means we could only look at one third of the amount of chips produced by NVIDIA and delivered to card manufacturers, which would mean an identical decrease in the level of new RTX 4060 (and 4060 Ti) graphics cards that comes to the market.
As always, however, this is just a rumor, so be careful to believe it too easy.
Analysis: Although this is correct, the move will take time to filter through
The reason NVIDIA may have run into production – largely – on a popular graphics card seems to be obvious. In short, this is another clear indication that the RTX 5060 is imminent, with a number of rumors suggesting that this graphics card should be launched in March 2025.
So if the successor to the RTX 4060 is expected to be detached next month, it would fully make sense that this current re-graphics card would start to be started to be the door of Nvidia from around now.
Again, exercise caution about the rumors of the RTX 5060 launch, but all these little pieces of the puzzle seem to be appropriate together neat enough.
Does this mean that in theory you will soon be unable to buy an RTX 4060? No, it’s not as simple as that. Even if these two -thirds are cutting the production right now, it will take a while before this influence is felt on graphics cards that are actually shipping. In addition, there will also be a lot of stocks in stocks and other parts of the distribution cycle, and even when all this sells through, there will still be some RTX 4060 boards that are made.
This graphics card will still be on shelves for some time, but it will be rarer as this year rolls on if you assume this rumor is correct as the RTX 5060 takes the limelight on the GPU stage with a lower mid-range range.
I put up my hands and admit, I was skeptical that Nvidia would launch the RTX 5060, as soon as March, after the RTX 5070 so close – but it seems that this will be the case.
It is also worth noting that we have just heard another positive rumor about the subject of the RTX 5060 and its cabling, with GPU apparently not needs a 12VHPWR stream (which will make upgrading much easier and we go into Exactly why this is the case here if you are interested).
