- Nvidia released a new game clear driver for RTX 5070 Support and DLSS 4 updates for some new and current games
- Users continue to vote frustrations over black screen problems after new driver update
- It may be ideal to hold on to updates until Team Green releases more stable buildings
The tables gradually turn in the battle between NVIDIA and AMD on the GPU market, where the former RTX 5000 series -launch comes with a litany of problems that AMD draws full advantage of its Radeon RX 9000 series -launch. While Team Green’s new Game Ready driver promises a solution to some previous problems, it may be a good idea to stay away from it for the time being.
In a blog released by NVIDIA, a new Game Ready Driver (572.70) is available, providing support for its new RTX 5070 GPU along with DLSS 4 Multi-FRAME GENERATION support for some games. It also suggests a solution for a previous black screen problem when trying to start in systems while using DisplayPort.
This question seemed to be widespread after people installed driver 572.60 – I can confirm this as the start in Windows 11 resulted in the login screen disappearing, leaving only the mouse marker. The solution uninstalled the ‘latest quality update’ in Windows 11’s recovery mode and rolled the driver back to 572.47 for stability.
This is not the first time this has taken place – the driver that introduced DLSS 4 breaches for RTX GPUs (572.16) allegedly caused a blue screen of death failure when it was games, especially in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 By activating or adjusting frame generation settings.
A hotfix (572.65) was released to address 572.60’s big mistakes, but the question remained (according to some Reddit users). Meanwhile, while the release notes for the new 572.70 update suggest that the black screen problems have been resolved, users still report the same problems along with steming in play and a black screen error during the driver installation. This is not ideal, especially for those who use Team Green’s new RTX 5070 (the driver is specifically released to support GPU) and adds the list of controversy around the new Blackwell GPUs.

Roll your drivers back and stay away from now
Unless you are using an RTX 5070, I would suggest that you roll back your NVIDIA graphics driver as soon as possible -I have used Driver 572.47 ever since I encountered the black screen start problem and have not looked back.
Team Green is under fire for more problems with its Blackwell GPUs, and I’m worried that it won’t end at any time soon. The last thing you want to happen is that a future unstable driver drastically affects your system, and recurring BSODs, in-game crashes, installation problems and non-reacting black screens is not a good sign in my book.
I must note that all PC configurations are not the same, and it is probably that some may not run into any of these problems (which I hope is the case) – but with the consistency of frustrations shared and the similarity between them, I am willing to stick to what is most stable for now (though it means to lose any game of improvement).
I hope Nvidia can come back to launch stable drivers that do not further damage its reputation – even if they remember, drivers can always have one or two problems for a number of users – but until then I keep my system clean of GPU driver updates.
