- Nvidia’s new 572.16 driver seems to cause crashes across multiple games along with other system problems
- Activating framework generation in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 causes BSODs’s
- More users across Nvidia’s forums, steam and Reddit have expressed the same frustrations
It’s no secret that NVIDIA’s new driver, which brings DLSS 4 support to multiple games, is an incredible addition for all RTX GPU users, especially for improved image quality in DLSS Performance Mode -but if you have updated, you actually want to Roll back your driver for now.
Based on several user reports on Nvidia’s forums and Reddit, Team Green’s latest 572.16 driver creates lots of problems, including broken down games and reboot of PCs across multiple titles – with some even resulting in a blue screen of death. I can confirm these reports – on several occasions (after reinstalling the new driver and ensuring that there were no other system institives), trying to turn on frame generation in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 caused repeated cases of the dreaded BSOD.
While it was more common in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2the same thing happened when trying to start Call of Duty: Black Ops 6Rolling back, my drivers were left as the only solution. This was already suspicious and the reports suggest that these questions may actually come from Nvidia’s new driver.
The same problem has been discussed by some users in the Steam Community Forums, which further indicates that enabling framework generation causes affected PCs to restart. It is not exactly clear why this is happening, but it seems that it may be a combination of problems with nixxes’ PC port of insomniac’s Spider-Man Successor (no surprise there …) and the new driver. There was a similar case with God’s war: Ragnarok At the launch before a patch, which resulted in users’ games crashing during the first meeting with Thor.
What is the solution for now?
If you are lucky, you may not have run into these problems, even with the latest driver installed – but it may be safest to roll back -drivers at the moment or at least wait for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and other affected games to receive another patch. I must emphasize that the BSODs mostly occurred when I tried to activate framework generation within the new PC port so other games can be secure from this number.
Even when you return to the previous driver, you will still probably face the occasional crash in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (Despite a recent hotfix released to tackle this). Fortunately, my system has not been exposed to the litania of problems that some others have mentioned – but given how much has been documented by some troubled users, I would say you had to wait until Team Green releases a new one Driver, especially since not all games can take advantage of the new DLSS 4 overriding function yet.
