- New leak suggests the RTX 60 series could arrive as late as 2027
- Source is a delicious one with a solid history
- Increase in RAM prices may delay the launch
It finally looks like there could be some good news for PC gamers, as a reliable hardware leaker has suggested that Nvidia’s next-generation RTX 60 series graphics cards will launch in the second half of 2027.
While that may still seem like quite a wait, it’s roughly what we’ve come to expect since the current generation, the RTX 50 series, launched last year, and Nvidia tends to wait a few years before launching entirely new architectures.
If this leak is accurate, it could mean that new Nvidia RTX 60 series GPUs, such as the RTX 6090, could launch around the same time as the rumored GTA 6 PC port. It would be great timing as the highly anticipated game is likely to be a graphical tour-de-force and many PC gamers will want to update their rigs with cutting edge technology.
As Notebookcheck.net reports, hardware leaker ‘kopite7kimi’ posted on X, formerly Twitter, in response to a user asking if the RTX 6090 will be released in 2028. Their rather straightforward answer of ‘2027H2’ suggests that the flagship RTX 60 series GPU will probably launch next year, along with the second expected RTX 60 later.
With RAM prices currently skyrocketing, there have been concerns that Nvidia could delay the launch of the RTX 60 series until the supply issues are resolved. There has been no sign of Nvidia’s mid-generation RTX 50 series ‘Super’ GPUs, which were missing in action at CES 2026, with many people assuming that the global memory shortage has forced Nvidia to delay their launch.
If ‘kopite7kimi’s rather cryptic post is accurate, it suggests that fears that Nvidia could delay its next-gen GPUs are (at least for now) unfounded.
Time to get excited?
While it’s encouraging to think that Nvidia’s next generation of GPUs won’t be delayed, I wouldn’t get too excited just yet.
While ‘kopite7kimi’ has a pretty good track record for accurate leaks, their post doesn’t give any indication of where they’re getting this information, and it’s not entirely clear if they’re talking about the RTX 6090, or the RTX 60 series as a whole.
Since we’ve only just started 2026, the second half of 2027 is far enough away that there’s still plenty of time for some unexpected delays to pop up, especially since the RAM price crises show no signs of ending anytime soon.
The RTX 60 series launching around the same time as GTA 6 on PC might also be a bit wishful thinking on my part. Rockstar, the company behind the iconic franchise, has not mentioned anything about a PC release. I’m still hoping that GTA 6 ends up on PC like every other main entry in the series has (actually the original game started as a PC game), but there’s no guarantee that it will launch in 2027, despite that being a year after the (much delayed) release on consoles which is coming later this year.
Not to be too negative, but even if Indeed, the RTX 60 series avoids delays due to the RAM price crises that may still have consequences, with Nvidia’s already expensive GPUs possibly becoming even more expensive.
