“It is unfortunate that these days and times active shooter exercises are taking place across the country, and the Rudin management did their job to clearly have the active shooting games, and the staff who were in the building were able to take advantage of some of the safe rooms, and I think it played a big role in saving some of the staff,” he said.
Adams added that the gunman was referring to having suffered chronically traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and that he had a complaint against the NFL.
“He seemed to have blamed the NFL,” said the mayor. “The NFL headquarters were located in the building and he mistakenly went up the wrong elevator bank.”
Adams said investigators reviewed “suicide note” as the gunman left.
The New York Post first reported the notion of a “suicide note” found near his body on the 33rd floor. Pakinomist Digital reached out to NYPD and NFL for comment.
