NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised NYPD officer Didarul Islam in a memo for employees in the building where a mad gunman killed four and wounded others in a shooting.

Goodell said in the note, obtained by Pakinomist Digital, that an NFL employee was “seriously wounded” but in stable state. He mentioned Islam and thanked him for having sacrificed his life to save others.

“We are deeply grateful to the law enforcement authorities who responded quickly and resolutely and resolutely to officers Islam who gave his life to protect others,” the note read.

The 36-year-old had been on the strength for four years before being closed down Monday night. He was married to two young boys and his wife is pregnant with their third child, said Nypd Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

Islam, an immigrant from Bangladesh, who was awarded NYPD’s 47. Precinct in Bronx, was one of two uniformed officers in Park Avenue HĂžjhuse when the shooting took place.

Both officers worked there as part of the paid detailed program that allows companies to hire uniformed officers as extra security, Tisch said.

NYPD said Islam “represented the very best of our department.”

“He protected New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically truncated today,” Nypd added. “We participate in prayer during this time with incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams wrote on Tuesday that flags on all state buildings and stationary flag staff will be raised to half staff to honor Islam.
