Almost 12 hours after the top of the nightclub collapsed on patrons, the rescue herds still drew survivors from the waste. On stage, firefighters used blocks of broken concrete and sawed pieces of wood to lift heavy waste as noise from exercises that broke through concrete filled the air.

It was not immediately clear what caused it to collapse.
