LONDON: Prime Minister Keir Stormmer has fired a junior Minister of Health Andrew Gwynne, and suspended him from the Labor Party after sending offensive WhatsApp messages about voters and colleagues whom he admitted were “poorly assessed.”
Andrew Gwynne, who was the Minister of Health, apologized on the social media platform x after a report from Mail on Sunday That he had sent WhatsApp messages insulting voters and other MPs.
“I deeply apologize for my poorly erroneous comments and apologize for any offense I have caused,” he said.
“I totally understand the decisions that the Prime Minister (Prime Minister) and the party have made, and although it is very sad to have been suspended, I will support them in every way I can.”
A spokesman for the government said Stormer was determined to maintain high standards of behavior in the public office.
“He will not hesitate to intervene against any minister who does not meet these standards, as he has done in this case,” the spokesman said.
Labor won a large majority in an election last July, but the polls show that its popularity has fallen since then, with the party fighting after early mistakes over donations and to increase economic growth.
