North Waziristan:
A member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has said the district administration has begun to investigate a mysterious strike at a house in Mir Ali Tehsil, who killed four children and triggered a protest from local tribal men.
According to local sources, five people, including a woman, were also wounded in the incident, which was allegedly caused by ammunition drop by a quad copter on a house in the Hormus Village of Mir Ali.
The deceased children’s ages varied from eight years to just two months.
The locals rushed to the wounded to Mir Ali Tehsil Hospital, where some of the wounded are also said to be in critical condition. The incident has triggered a wave of anger and sorrow, where the residents are staging a sit-in-protest at Mir Ali Chowk since Sunday.
The demonstration has drawn the tribe’s oldest, young and children. Protesters hold banners and posters with slogans like “Let’s live.”
Minister Nek Muhammad strongly condemned the incident in a statement sent on social media.
“The blood of innocent children will not go in vain. This is a crime against humanity. We will raise our voice on any forum and do everything to bring those who are responsible for justice,” he said.
