OGRA order oil, the gas sector to adopt digital payments

Islamabad:

The Oil and Gas Regulation Authority has instructed all licensed units in accordance with its regulation to adopt digital payment solutions in accordance with the government’s push for a cashless economy.

According to the Directive, OMCs, Gas Tools, CNG stations, LPG and LNG operators, refineries and lubricant marketers must introduce and display digital payment options, especially SBP’s Raast QR code, on their business. OGRA said there will be no outlets to refuse customers who choose digital transactions. All devices must ensure full compliance by October 31, 2025.

The authority said the move supports SBP’s digitization drive and is expected to improve economic inclusion, transparency and operational efficiency across the energy sector. Companies have been asked to coordinate with banks, microfinance institutions or electronic banks to get free-to-price-raast QR codes for timely implementation.
