Ohio State Sen. Bill Demora, D-Columbus, has introduced a bill that would ban Ohio State and other Ohio Universities to broadcast their games solely on streaming services.
The bill would prevent state universities from entering into contracts with the services that have taken over sporting events since the decade’s decade.
A Demora spokesman told Pakinomist Digital that universities would be required to “give enrolled students access to (deployed) athletic events at no cost.”

“The greed of the Big Ten and multinational streaming companies puts an unreasonable burden on Ohio’s small businesses, which depend on their ability to air play,” Demora said in 2023 when he first announced his intention to introduce the legislation.
“Paying thousands of dollars to send out a game is a ridiculous requirement for small businesses. This problem is completely created by public institutions seeking to make money.”
Demora initially made its proposal after Ohio State was taking on Purdue that year solely on Peacock. Demora said it was the first time in about 20 years that he was unable to watch an Ohio State football match on regular TV, according to NBC Columbus.

“I refuse to pay all these streaming networks to watch Ohio State and other sports.… Streaming -Tv is not good for sports,” Demora said.
Buckeyes’ victory over Michigan State in September was also sent to Peacock after Big Ten had a seven-year deal with the company in 2022. Basketball game has been broadcast on Peacock and Big Ten Network’s streaming platform.
Conference Methods led to new rights agreements throughout college athletics, and the Big Ten matches were often shown on NBC last season.
Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are now releasing Primetime NFL games, while Apple TV has shown MLB and MLS games. Netflix has also utilized martial arts.
