A woman’s college basketball coach was arrested last week for alleged drunken driving after police said he was found parked in his front yard and smelled like alcohol.
Kevin McGuff, head coach of Ohio State, took more than two minutes to open the driver’side door or window before refusing a respirator and denying that he had been drinking or taking medication that could result in weakening, according to a police report obtained by Columbus Dispatch.
McGuff was asked to recite the alphabet from letters D to R to R, an order he received three times, but he said nothing after D, according to police.

“(University) is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitors the situation closely. This is a continuous, personal legal case and (the university) will share additional information at the appropriate time,” Ohio State said in a statement via the New York Post.

McGuff was in a 2013 Toyota Sequoia. Shortly before McGuffs arrest on a fee to operate a vehicle while reduced (OVI), a spectator called police to report someone in a Toyota Sequoia in 2013 driving ruthlessly. This driver had hit several curbs and erected through a farm, said the one calling, according to the dispatch.
The coach told police, 13 seconds after being asked he had been at a restaurant. When asked what he had eaten, he said, “noon,” according to the report.

McGuff has been Ohio State’s coach since 2013 and has a record of 224-109 since coming to Buckeyes. He has been in eight NCAA tournaments with OSU after spending two seasons with Washington and nine at Xavier.
