Ole Miss Football Player, 18, dies in shooting

Corey Adams, a beginner with Ole Miss Rebel’s football team, was killed in a shooting in Tennessee on Saturday night, officials said. He was 18.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place in Cordova, located just east of Memphis. Officials said the corresponding deputies discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound and delivered “life -saving measures” until the fire department arrived.

The victim was later declared dead on the scene. Adams was later identified as the victim.

Officials said deputies found several Shell cabinets on site and were later told that four other shooting victims checked in in hospitals in the area. They were erected in non-critical state.

Ole Miss later released a statement of Adams’ death.

“We are ruined to learn that Corey Adams, a beginner on the team, died last night in Cordova, Tennessee,” the school said. “While our program is trying to cope with this tragic loss, our thoughts with his loved ones in this incredibly difficult time are.

“Out of respect for his family, we will not comment further at this time. We are asking the Ole Miss community to keep Corey in their thoughts and respect the privacy of everyone involved.”

Adams was a prominent high school footballer at Edna Karr in New Orleans. The defensive lineman was rated as a three-star recruitment view. He was a two-time first-team committee for All-State.

He had 51 tackles and 12 sacks during his adolescence in high school.
