Olivia Rodrigo recently used her massive instagram on Saturday to express her support to protesters in the midst of running crashes against immigrants.
The singer shared her thoughts on the crisis and said she stands for “our right to freedom of expression and freedom to protest.”
She then shared a picture of a poster from the ongoing protest with a crossed crown and the words (not) “in our US, rejected” monarchial control “and demanded respect for democracy.
The image of the crossed crown on the poster drew parallels to the recent events in the UK, with Anti-Monarchy Group Republic staging a protest outside Buckingham Palace during the trooped color parade on June 14, 2025.
The event that marks King Charles’s official birthday so protesters sing “not my king” and wave banners who criticized the relevance of the royal family.
The protest coincided with the parade’s military pomp, which the Republic felt a “superficial cover to a corrupt institution.”
King Charles and Prince William, who attended the ceremony wearing “undeserved” military rows, faced special control from protesters who spoke for the abolition of the monarchy.
Rodrigo’s post, though focused on local questions, seemed to symbolize a rejection of hierarchical power, mirroring the British protesters’ demands for a chosen head of state.
