Attackers fired several shots at a man inside the park; two more injured in a separate incident
One man was killed and another critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire indiscriminately at Lake View Park in the federal capital on Friday, triggering panic among families at the popular recreational spot.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the attackers fired several shots at a man inside the park, killing him on the spot. His companion was critically injured in the attack.
The sudden volley of gunfire sent families running for safety, with women and children screaming as they rushed out of the area. Witnesses claimed that police arrived at the scene with an apparent delay, allowing the assailants to escape without resistance.
The body of the victim was shifted to Polyclinic Hospital while police launched a search operation. However, so far no significant breakthrough in identifying those responsible for the attack has been reported.
Two wounded in separate shooting incidents
In a separate incident within Humak police limits, two persons were seriously injured in a shooting allegedly linked to an old enmity.
Police said a man identified as Sikandar allegedly opened fire on a person named Qamar on GT Road. When the wounded Qamar tried to stand, the assailant allegedly opened fire indiscriminately, injuring a passerby.
Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment. The suspect managed to escape and despite the presence of Safe City cameras in the area, police have been unable to make any arrests.
