- OnePlus has revealed more details of OnePlus 15, including using a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset
- It is the successor to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite used in the Galaxy S25 series
- OnePlus 15 also has an update speed of 165Hz but lacks hazelblad -Branding
We expect OnePlus 15 to soon be fully revealed, but the company has already revealed many elements of what during Qualcomm’s latest event (via The Verge), it announced that this phone will use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
This chipset is the new top-end model from Qualcomm, and it is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, found in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and many of the 2025’s other best Android phones. So by using this, OnePlus 15 should make these devices turn on in terms of power.
We have detailed Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in another article, but according to Qualcomm, this chipset should be even more powerful than the A19 Pro, which operates the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and it can be particularly good for games and expanded battery life.
Update speed and camera details
But OnePlus has also revealed some other details about its upcoming phone, including having an update speed of 165Hz, which is much higher than 120Hz by OnePlus 13 and most other flagship phones.
The redesigned camera blocks on the back of the phone were also shown and it is a design we do not love, so it is a less promising element of the handset.
And an element that we are not sure what to do yet is the lack of hazel leaf branding, with OnePlus says it uses an internal detail-max engine that seems to use “advanced algorithms and powerful processors.” So how much influence this will have and whether it will be an upgrade or a downgrade, there is still to see.
However, hopefully we should find out soon, as more information about OnePlus 15 will be revealed “in the coming weeks.” Oh, and if you wonder what happened to OnePlus 14, number 4 is considered an accident in China, which is probably the reason why they jump directly to 15.
