- We now have a proper look at the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V
- These are gaming phones from OnePlus that will launch next month
- Earlier rumors of a 9,000 mAh battery have been confirmed
Following on from the impressive OnePlus 15, OnePlus is about to launch a pair of gaming-focused phones under the Turbo moniker – and we now have an official teaser video showing what they’ll look like.
The video was posted to Chinese social media site Weibo by OnePlus (via 9to5Google ), and it mentions both a Turbo 6 phone and a Turbo 6V phone. It is not yet clear what the differences are, but it may well be that one is more powerful than the other.
We can see at least four colors here – silver, black, a light green and a light blue – and given that one of the scenes shows a phone getting hit by dust and water, it looks like these Turbo handsets will come with an IP68 rating.
A few other specs are mentioned in the video: a 165 Hz screen, for smooth gaming action, and a 9,000 mAh battery. The large battery capacity has previously been rumoured, and we have now confirmed from OnePlus that it is on the way.
Coming next month
In terms of the design of these handsets, it looks like OnePlus isn’t straying too far from the stylish aesthetics of the OnePlus 15. It’s an approach that’s both simple and easy to look at, and it works well.
These phones were first hinted at earlier this month, when OnePlus said the handsets would be focused on gaming and bring “frighteningly strong” performance – although we’ve yet to hear anything about processor or RAM specs.
We know that the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V will be revealed on Thursday, January 8, and will be launched in China to begin with. As usual with OnePlus, we’ll have to wait a while to find out about international availability and pricing.
Given that the launch date is still more than a week away, we may well see more in the way of official reveals over the coming days. Considering the quality of the best gaming phones already on the market, it’s a pretty brave new venture for OnePlus.
