- Openai -Tal claims that chatgpt now has 500 million users globally

- Openai wants to democratize artificial intelligence and support workers
Openai has released new research that claims that its AI tool technology provides great productivity benefits – while it also recognizes that it could largely interfere with some areas negatively.
This year, Chatgpt has been used by 28% of us adults for working purposes, up from 8% by 2023, suggesting that more and more people are getting hold of its productivity and efficiency benefits.
Among its most popular use cases is to learn and re -school (20%), writing and communication (18%), programming, data science and math (7%), creative ideation, business analysis and even translation.
Chatgpt seems to increase productivity
Interestingly, while we usually see younger generations adopting new technologies faster, Openai revealed that more 25-34-year-olds are using Chatgpt (32%) compared to 18-24 year olds (24%), suggesting that generative AI could be more advantageous for slightly more senior positions than entry-level roles.
Attorneys, customer support agents, consultants, government workers and teachers have all reported significant time savings when using AI.
Openais ‘Unlocking Economic Opportunity’ paper also claimed that AI helps to lower the barrier for access to entrepreneurship and small businesses, where Y Combinators 2025 cohort grows by approx. 10% weekly due to the growing number of AI-first startups.
Even Openai, however, recognizes that AI can bring disturbances despite its significant productivity promises.
By claiming that it now supports more than 2.5 billion messages per year. Day from 500 million users globally, the company noted that it has a responsibility to guide the change – not stop it – by democratizing access, supporting workers and building inclusive systems.
“We are in the process of a strong start and create freely available intelligence used by more than 500 million people around the world, including 3 million developers,” the company wrote.
“Openai looks forward to working with decision makers, workers, teachers and the public to better understand how AI changes the economy and ensures that the financial gains that AI brings result in a broad growth and expanded opportunity.”
