Lahore:

A charged session that was unfolded in the Punjab assembly when opposition legislators jumped out against the government over what they called the “manuscript” and “politically motivated” judgments awarded to PTI legislators, workers and supporters of anti-terrorism courts in May 9 cases.

Deputy opposition leader Muhammad Moeenuddin Riaz brought the criticism and declared that the ATC judgments not only undermined justice, but also elaborated on the political gap.

“Try what you can, but you can’t delete Imran Khan from people’s hearts,” he said, accusing the government of prioritizing political reversal of pushing national issues such as flooding.

He also claimed that public funds were used on orchestration cases against PTI members instead of tackling the realities of the earth.

In protest, the opposition staged a token boycott of the procedure where he briefly left the house.

In response to the protest, PML-na headpic Rana Muhammad Arshad PTI’s attitude and questioned their moral authority to talk about justice after the violence on May 9. He accused the resistance of supporting sedition and undermining state institutions.

Treasury MPA Amjad Ali Javed raised a separate question and highlighted the abuse of section 97-a in the law on provincial vehicles (amendments) 2016 by a traffic leader and a police officer. He claimed that the section was not yet officially enforced and required action. The case was referred to the relevant committee.

Javed also called on the government to fulfill its 3% job quota for special persons, claiming implementation remains inadequate. Similarly, Treasury MPA Sohail Khan Zahid requested that agricultural taxes were waived in flooding areas.

Ipp’s Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui urged chief minister Maryam Nawaz to tackle poor drainage conditions in Laorrest’s railway colony and adjacent areas after recent rain.

As they returned from their walkout, opposition members tried to resume speeches against the ATC phrases, but the chairman did not give permission. This led to further sloganing from opposition benches.

As tensions escalated, a legislature pointed out the lack of decision -making. With insufficient members to continue the case, the President postponed the session until 1 p.m. 14.00 on July 28th.
