Flash floods hit Roshan Valley in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) early Friday after a glacier that harms more than 100 houses and forced hundreds of families to flee, officials said.
Ghizer, about 200 km from GB, was among the worst affected valleys in the recent floods, with at least 10 deaths reported.
Last month’s stormy rain in GB triggered flash flooders and landslides, leaving over 200 tourists and travelers stranded.
At least five people, including four tourists and a local resident, lost their lives. Authorities reported 14 to 15 major road blocks caused by boulders, garbage and sudden flooding, cut off access on key routes such as Babusar Top and parts of Karakoram Highway at Lal Parhi and Tatta Pani, where several vehicles were caught.
The Pakistani army deployed helicopters to evacuate those stuck in isolated areas, while heavy machinery was used to clear parts of the road from Thalichi to Chilas, with clearance operations that continued in Tatta Pani and Jalipur.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced an RS4 billion emergency package for flood-hit GB region along with the plans for a 100-Megawatt solar energy project.
GB -Government spokesman Faizullah Faraq told Express Pakinomist That flooding water swept a century -old bridge, immersed agricultural land and orchards and flushed a mile long way.
“A seven -kilometer artificial lake has formed due to the floods and increased risks to the surrounding villages,” he warned.
“More than 100 households have been directly affected, forcing large -scale displacement when families move with their belongings to safer places,” he said, adding that agricultural land, orchards, a wooden factory, melmills and other infrastructure had also been destroyed.

The spokesman confirmed that all stranded people had been rescued, but “hundreds have already been displaced and moving with their belongings to safer areas.”
He added that government teams are performing relief operations in the region.
Rescue 1122 Officers warned of an artificial dam created in Roshan and said that if it is blasting, the Ghizer River could trigger floods in low-lying parts of Gilgit City.

Officials added that Mosque and Imambargah messages are made to warn people about caution. The emergency system emphasized that these steps were taken “to reduce possible losses in the event of an inappropriate situation”.
GB chief minister Haji Gulbar Khan visited the affected areas to undergo relief operations, accompanied by provincial ministers -Engineer Mohammad Anwar and Rahmat Khaliq, speak Nazir Advocate and legislature Nawaz Naji. Deputy Commissioner Ghizer informed the Minister of Chief of Losses suffered from the local communities.
CM ordered immediate evacuation of flooding areas for safer locations and instructed officials to provide relief and medical assistance. He also thanked the commander FCNA to quickly launch a rescue operation.

Separately, more than 700 people have been killed and nearly 1,000 wounded in monsoon -related events across the country since June 26, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). In Punjab, at least 165 people have died and 584 others have been injured due to rain -related events.
Of the total deaths, at least 356 were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). In Karachi, at least 10 people lost their lives when heavy rainfall flooded neighborhoods, paralyzed traffic and caused widespread power cuts, causing the mayor to declare a rain emergency.
