Karachi:
The first phase of Karachi’s annual intermediate surveys for 2025 is set to begin on Monday 5 May, with over 126,500 students expected to perform across different scientific and home economy groups. Chairman of the Board of Middle Education Karachi (BIEK), Ghulam Hussain Sohoo, said all events for fair and transparent exams have been completed.
The tests will run until Thursday, May 29, both in morning and evening changes. More than 92,000 students from Pre-medical, Pre-Engineering and Home Economics Groups will take their exams at the morning change from 1 p.m. 9 to 12, while over 34,500 candidates from the general science group appear in the evening change from 14 to 17.
In total, 182 exam centers have been established all over the city; 122 for the morning change and 60 for the evening. Of these, 36 centers have been declared very sensitive.
Two central surveillance cells have also been created in the Karachi Commissioner’s office with BIEK to oversee the process and prevent cheating. In addition, complaint cells will operate from Deputy Commissioner Offices in each district, staffed by board representatives.
Given the Heatwave forecast during the exam period, the board has written to Sindh Emergency & Rescue Service 1122 and requested two ambulances for the central control room. The Sindh Health Department has also been requested to create first aid camps and ensure that first aid sets and ambulances are available outside of each exam center.
