More than 60 Pakistani Umrah pilgrims remain stranded in a Saudi airport in another consecutive day after they have allegedly missed their planned flight due to misunderstanding of the airline, Express News reported.
Pilgrims to return home via a Saudi airline claims that they were left in the airport lounge without help or clear communication from the airline.
“Nobody has helped us despite waiting for hours in the lounge. We’ve been stuck here for two days,” one of the affected pilgrims told local media.
According to the travelers, a representative of the Pakistani Embassy in Saudi -Arabia has contacted them and collected their details, but no concrete steps have yet been taken to facilitate their return.
Sources suggested that the group be left at the airport due to procedural complications with the flight control, although no official explanation has been given.
The efforts to repatriate the stranded pilgrims have so far failed to realize, which raised concerns about the lack of coordination between the airline and diplomatic authorities.
From Monday night, Pilgrims continued to wait at the airport without a confirmed return flight and called on both the airline and the Pakistani embassy to speed up their events. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Foreign Office has not yet issued any official statements regarding the situation.
