Sindh:
More than 80 peacocks have died, and hundreds have become more ill in different rural areas of Tharparkar, reportedly due to a mysterious disease composed of intense heat and lack of food and water.
According to residents of the affected regions – including Islamkot, Nagarparkar and Chachro Tehsils – Peacock’s symptoms such as influenza, fever, throat inflammation and in some cases vision loss. Local accounts suggest that the birds are unable to recover when the symptoms are set.
The effect is especially severe in wooded areas where peacocks are already struggling with rising temperatures and dehydration during the summer season.
Peacons are considered an iconic species of the Thar -Desert, often admired for their lively plumage and cultural significance. Their declining health has raised concerns among wildlife enthusiasts and natural guardians.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the disease or advertised any formal investigation or preparedness in the area.
Mithi and other parts of Tharparkar still stand with intense heat, with temperatures holding 42 ° C today. Hot and dry weather persists across most of Sindh, without expected rainfall.
Most of the country is mainly experiencing hot and dry weather. The highest temperatures recorded on Sunday were Jacobabad (43 ° C) and Mithi, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad (42 ° C).
