Islamabad:
In a significant development for the relationship between Pakistan-Iran, a direct flight between Islamabad and Tehran has been restored after 60 years, with the Iran Air Tour set to run a weekly service every Tuesday.
The initial ceremony for the resumed air connection was held at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday, participated by a large number of guests from both Pakistan and Iran. Officials paid tribute to the speed as a milestone for regional connection, tourism and trade.
In a speech to the apartment, Iran’s Deputy Mission in Pakistan, Nabi Shirazi, said the launch of the Iran Air Tour aircraft would promote tourism, allowing religious pilgrims, students and business people to travel conveniently between the two capitals.
Shirazi added that the bilateral air agreement was successfully completed after the recent visit by Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. He congratulated citizens in both countries as well as stakeholders in tourism and business sectors with the restoration of the flights.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, also expressed optimism that the resumption of direct aircraft would give tourism “an unprecedented lift”, giving Iranian citizens the opportunity to experience Pakistan’s natural beauty and hospitality.
