Lahore: The events of a Tri-Nation series involving Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE, have entered their last stages, with an official announcement expected after the Asian cricket council (ACC) meeting, sources said on Thursday.

According to insiders, discussions about the series will be completed on the sidelines of the ACC sessions. The complete schedule and venues are likely to be revealed when the meeting is completed.

Sources also indicated that the TRI series is held in the UAE prior to the Asia Cup 2025.

Originally, Pakistan was scheduled to host Afghanistan in a bilateral series in August. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suggested to convert the series to a tri-nation event and move it to UAE.

The purpose of hosting the series in the UAE is to help players adapt to the conditions in front of the Asia Cup.

It should be noted that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ACC is set to take place in Bangladesh today, with an overwhelming majority of Member States confirming participation.

Out of the 25 ACC members, 24 have confirmed their participation, which far exceeded the required decision -making of 13 in what is being hailed as a great diplomatic success for ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.

Despite the first resistance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Oman Cricket over the room, Naqvi’s continuing efforts ensured that the general meeting would continue as planned in the Bangladeshi capital.

It is significant that India also participates in the meeting almost, with BCCI-Vice President Rajev Shukla expected to participate in online a significant shift from the board’s previous position.
