Pakistan and the EU hold 10. Political dialogue in Brussels

Brussels: The European Union (EU) and Pakistan held on Thursday the 10th political dialogue in Brussels, which covered key issues regarding the EU – Pakistan Bilateral Cooperation as well as regional and international affairs, including multilateral cooperation. However, both sides agreed to elaborate on dialogue and discussions about security -related questions.

Pakistan and the EU confirmed their commitment to the implementation of the strategic commitment plan (SEP), which was signed in 2019. Both parties aim to elaborate further in all areas covered by SEP.

The two sides repeated their decision to continue close commitment under the GSP+ frameworks, says a ministry of foreign affairs.

They recognized the meaningful collaboration on various aspects of migration with the aim of keeping the third comprehensive migration and mobility dialogue later in 2025.

In addition to bilateral cooperation, both sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

The EU and Pakistan recognized the importance of multifaceted cooperation on security issues, including terrorism and maturity.

They condemned all forms of terrorism.

Both sides agreed on the need for efforts based on dialogue and diplomacy to solve disputed problems and emphasized the importance of maintaining international law and the holiness of international agreements and treaties.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine as well as Jammu and Kashmir. Both sides emphasized the need to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, fully respect for the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

They agreed on the urgent need to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Both sides called for resumption of a ceasefire and expressed support for initiatives contributing to a fair, lasting and extensive peace in Palestine in accordance with the solution of the two-state.

The two sides confirmed their ambitions to convene the 7th strategic dialogue in 2025 and emphasized its importance in strengthening Pakistan -eu collaboration.

They agreed to hold the next political dialogue meeting in 2026 in Islamabad.

The EU delegation was led by Olof Skoog, Deputy General Secretary of the European External Action Service, and the Pakistani delegation of Amna Baloch, Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
