Pakistan, Canada exploring trade routes

ISLAMABAD’:

Pakistan and Canada, while recognizing the significant untapped potential of the bilat relationship, on Saturday expressed their willingness to improve the implementation of existing agreements and identify new avenues for cooperation.

The 6th round of bilateral political consultations between the two countries was held here, with both sides stressing the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, including greater support for business, facilitation of trade delegations and strengthened institutional relations.

“The two sides emphasized cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture and agri-technology, mining and minerals, energy, climate change, artificial intelligence and information and communication technology, skilled workforce development, education and research, tourism and people-to-people exchange as key drivers to move the relationship forward,” the press release further added.

The two countries also emphasized the central role of investment in achieving sustainable and mutually beneficial growth and agreed to work towards encouraging the private sector to explore new opportunities.

The two sides also exchanged views on the developing global and regional environment and discussed key multilateral issues of mutual interest.
