Pakistan, China agrees to promote CPEC 2.0 with five new corridors

Pakistan and China on Thursday confirmed their obligation to promote bilateral cooperation during the upgraded China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), which includes five new corridors.

Understanding came during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of their relationship and promised to work close to the next phase of CPEC.

PM Shehbaz is currently in China on a six-day official visit. He landed in Tianjin on August 30, where he participated in the Strap Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) summit.

During today’s meeting, the two leaders also attended the ceremony to exchange Memorandums for Understanding (Mous) and agreements signed and advertised between the two countries in terms of collaboration in the development of CPEC 2.0, science and technology, IT, media, agriculture, etc.

Lectures at the delegation level were followed by a lavish lunch hosted by the Chinese Prime Minister in honor of the Prime Minister and his delegation.

During their “warm and friendly” meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his deepest gratitude to Chinese leadership and nation for their unclear support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and socio -economic development.

Based on the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Premier Shehbaz at their meeting on September 2, both leaders confirmed their joint decision to further strengthen the iron -clad, strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China.

The premiere also congratulated the Chinese leadership with the successful hosting of the SCO Council for State Meeting in Tianjin and expanded his crimes to China on the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people’s success in resistance and the anti-fascist war of the world.

The Prime Minister, who paid Rich tribute to China’s impressive transformation under President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership, stated that Pakistan would emulate China’s successes and build a stronger and closer Pakistan China community with a common future.

He added that his government’s tireless reform efforts yielded promising results made possible through China’s strong support.

PM Shehbaz also shared Pakistan’s intention to flow Panda bonds in the Chinese capital market soon.

On the economic front, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant contribution of the CPEC flagship project by President XI’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), in Pakistan’s socio-economic development in the last decade, and emphasized the need for early implementation of ML-I, KKH change and operationalization of the Gwadar port.

Pakistan’s leader emphasized the great potential of B2B collaboration and investment

He identified agriculture, mines and minerals, textiles, industrial sector and that priority areas for mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

Prime Minister repeated Pakistan’s support for President Xi Jinping’s landmark initiatives to strengthen multilateralism, including the Global Governance Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative.
