Pakistan confirms SCO -Engagement

Islamabad:

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar repeated on Friday Pakistan’s obligation to constructive commitment to Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

He emphasized the importance of mutually advantageous cooperation, especially in the bilateral trade, transport and regional connection. Deputy Prime Minister made these comments during a meeting with the Secretary General of SCO, Nurlan Yermekbayev, who is currently on an official visit to Pakistan. Dar congratulated Yermekbayev by assuming responsibility as the new Secretary General of SCO and assured him of Pakistan’s full support for the SCO Secretariat. He highlighted Pakistan’s close historical ties with SCO Member States and confirmed the country’s dedication to maintaining the “Shanghai spirit”.

He also paid tribute to SCO’s potential as a platform to promote regional peace and security as well as to promote economic development throughout the region.

In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan’s constructive involvement in promoting mutually advantageous cooperation within the SCO framework, especially within the domains of bilateral trade, transport and connection.

Secretary General Yermekbayev thanked Pakistan for his warm hospitality and appreciated the country’s active commitment to SCO affairs. He specifically praised Pakistan’s successful host of the meeting at the Council for Government Heads of SCO Member States (SCO CHG), held in Islamabad in October 2024.
