President Volodymy Zelenskiy claimed on Monday that Ukrainian troops in northeastern Ukraine fought for foreign “mercenaries” from various countries, including China, Pakistan and parts of Africa, and promised an answer.
Zelenskiy has previously accused Moscow of recruiting Chinese warriors for his war effort against Ukraine, rejected Beijing, while North Korea has also delivered thousands of its own troops in Russia’s Kursk region.
“We talked to commanders about the front -line situation, the defense of the Vovchane and the dynamics of the battles,” Zelenskiy wrote on X after visiting a front -line area in the northeastern Kharkiv region.

“Our warriors in this sector report the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and African countries in the war. We will answer.”
Earlier this week, Pakistan in the UN Security Council emphasized the urgent need for renewed diplomatic efforts and a comprehensive ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In 2023, Islamabad rejected claims that Pakistan agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine in return to secure an international Monetary Fund (IMF) Bailout and said the country maintained a “policy of strict neutrality”.
The review came after the interception, a US publication, claimed in his latest report that Pakistan provided weapons to Ukraine via the United States.
The publication supported its claims from two sources with knowledge of the event and said that internal documents from both Pakistani and US governments confirm the development.
