Two bogies of Karachi-to-rawalpindi-bound 45-up Pakistan Express derailed in the Bahwalpur district of Punjab early Saturday morning, resulting in the temporary closure of both up and down railway tracks, confirmed rail sources, Express News reported.

The derailment took place at. 06:05, when the AC standard Bogie – the fourth from behind – got completely off the field near the Mubarakpur station.

The attached dining car was also affected in the incident. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

A relief train was immediately sent from Sama Satta and the rescue effort is in full swing to clear track and resume services.

Railways and emergency teams are on site where authorities prioritize passenger security and the rapid restoration of operations.

Furthermore, CEO of Pakistan Railways has sought extensive details of railway bridges across the country after the recent collapse of Khanewal Railway Station Bridge.

In a communicat sent to all division superintendents, Pakistan Railways instructed them to provide complete information about the bridges within their respective departments.

The data will be used to start a nationwide bridge upgrade program.

Special Eid -train to ease Holiday Rush

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Railways has decided to run five special trains on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

The federal minister of railways Hanif Abbasi has approved the schedule of these special trains that will run across major cities.

According to a PR spokesman, the first Eid Special Train will deviate from Karachi to Lahore on June 2 at 1 p.m. 13.00.

The second train works from Quetta to Peshawar on June 3 at. 10am. On the same day, a third special train departs from Lahore to Karachi at. 17.00.

Later that evening, a fourth train will take from Karachi to Rawalpindi at. 20.00, while the fifth and last EID special trains differ from Karachi Cantt on June 4 at 1 p.m. 17.30.
