Pakistan has prevented all Indian flagged vessels from entering its ports and territorial waters, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs said on Sunday, thereby the tensions between the nuclear armed neighbors after India introduced a similar ban one day earlier. The move comes in direct reaction to New Delhi’s previous decision to ban Pakistani vessels from accessing any Indian port.
Pakistan’s maritime service quoted increased regional tensions and national security concerns as the rationale behind its countermeasures. It added that “any exception requests would be reviewed individually.”
