Pakistan has extensive laws but needs better enforcement to ensure good governance, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said on Wednesday.

When he spoke at Millennium Universal College’s Moot Court competition, organized by the university’s head of law programs Sheikh Waqas bin Aamir (lawyer by law), Justice Kayani urged students to reject corruption and drug addiction and call them great obstacles to national progress.

“Each law is found in Pakistan, but the challenge lies in implementation,” he said.

“A new generation is needed to improve the entire management model.”

The event in which lawyer student argued for cases in front of a spot bench was adjuted by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Islamabad -Advokat Ayaz Shoukat, Advoate Sheikh Waqas Bin Aamir and others.

Justice Kayani emphasized the importance of legal education and called on universities to teach procedural legislation more effectively.

He emphasized that although older generations had played their role, it was time for young people to lead the country’s transformation.

The judge also raised concerns about rising drug abuse and revealed that 200 to 300 cases related to drugs were registered in Islamabad every day.

“You need to reject corruption and drugs and dedicate at least an hour daily to your studies,” Justice Kayani advised the students.
