Pakistan, Hungary agrees to elaborate bilateral ties

Islamabad:

Pakistan and Hungary on Thursday agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, including diplomacy, culture and cultural heritage, in addition to repeating mutual support for peace and multilateralism.

The bilateral ties were discussed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Hungary’s Foreign Minister and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who arrived at an official visit. Both leaders also led their respective pages in lectures at the delegation level that followed the signing of the agreements on collaboration in different sectors.

Dar said that Pakistan and Hungary wanted to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, information technology and industrial presentation in approaching a joint press effort after their meeting and conversations.

He said both countries are reminded of the 60 -year anniversary of diplomatic relations this year – a partnership that has bloomed across political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres.

He called Pakistan and Hungary entrusted friends and partners with ties rooted in common understanding of peace and development, he said both sides discussed improving cooperation and tackle regional and global challenges.

Dar confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to strengthen the tapes under Hungary’s “Eastern Opening Policy”, developed under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and adapt closely with Pakistan’s own vision.

DAR expressed gratitude for Hungary’s continued support for the GSP+ scheme and said that mous and agreements signed during the visit would give a new driver to cultural ties.

He said both countries signed an agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for diplomatic passport owners, which further elaborated on government-to-government and people-to-human relations.

Deputy Prime Minister told the media that during the meeting he emphasized Pakistan’s principled attitude towards Jammu and Kashmir and repeated steadfast support for the Palestinian case based on the two-state solution.

He informed the Hungarian delegation of the situation in Afghanistan and the associated security challenges.

Both sides emphasized the need for a peaceful decision on the conflict in Ukraine and the importance of constructive dialogue.

In his remarks, the Hungarian minister Péter Szijjártó’s Hungarian Minister pleased the signing of the agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for diplomatic passports and expressed Hungary’s desire to intensify bilateral connections.

He emphasized that mutual respect should guide international politics and that judgmental and critical attitudes had led to problems in global politics. He said that instead of dividing blocks, international politics should promote connection options.

Foreign Minister for Hungary Péter Szijjártó urged Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday and discussed questions of bilateral and regional interest.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister was on an official visit to Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his good wishes to Prime Minister Viktor Orban and confirmed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen his bilateral relations with Hungary in various sectors, including trade, investment and energy. He also repeated his invitation to Prime Minister Orban to take on an official visit to Pakistan.
