Pakistan and International Atomic Energy Agency have formalized a new cooperation agreement – the country program framework (CPF) 2026-31 – was exposed to promoting nuclear science and technology for socio -economic development.
Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Chairman Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar and IAEA Deputy Director and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation Hua Liu were signatories of the agreement signed on Wednesday.
CPF will guide technical collaboration between Pakistan and IAEA focusing on several priority sectors. These include food and agriculture; human health and nutrition; Climate change and water resources management; nuclear power; and radiation and nuclear security.

Dr. Anwar said the deal confirms Pakistan’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. With the help of IAEA, he said, Pakistan will continue to hire modern technologies to move on in areas such as food security, health, energy and environmental protection.
Founded in 1957, Pakistan has been an IAEA Member State for decades. The new CPF will serve as a framework for planning and implementing resources and nuclear technology transfers in line with national development goals.
