Indonesia’s Defense Minister LT Gen (Retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed his country’s desire to increase the defense ties and explore possible cooperation in defense production when he met the country’s top civilian and military leadership
Gen Sjamsoeddin urged Prime Minister Shehbaz at the PM office today, repeating Indonesia’s desire to “further strengthen the defense tape with Pakistan and explore possible areas of cooperation, especially in defense production”, according to a statement from government-driven PID.
The Indonesian minister conveyed the best wishes of President Prabowo Subianto to the Prime Minister and Pakistan people, the press release added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz “Pakistan’s obligation to explore and expand collaboration with Indonesia in Joint Ventures confirmed by investing in mutually advantageous projects,” the statement states.
The Prime Minister also repeated Pakistan’s obligation to improve bilateral cooperation with Indonesia in all roads, including economic, strategic and trade sectors together with defense and defense production.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoyed an “long -standing friendship that was rooted in common cultural, religious and historical ties that supported each other on international forums”.
Both sides emphasized the importance of “improving multifaceted bilateral cooperation” according to PID.
“The meeting emphasized the deeply rooted historical, brotherly and friendly bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia,” the statement noted.
When he remembered his meeting last year with Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the development-8 summit in Cairo, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his best wishes for the Indonesian president.
The Prime Minister also underwent ongoing initiatives under Pakistan-Indonesia Defense Cooperation Agreement and agreed to “accelerate the implementation of key areas of mutual interest,” added PID.
Meeting with Coas
Indonesian Defense Minister Lieutenant (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with Chief of Army Staff (Coas) Field Marshal Asim Munir at the general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss the strengthening of military ties, reported the military’s media wing.
According to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indonesian Defense Minister held a delegation of senior representatives from various military and intelligence agencies, extensive conversations with Pakistan’s top military leadership.
Both sides exchanged views on regional security, defense cooperation and ways to improve bilateral military cooperation. The meeting emphasized the long -standing friendship between the two nations with special emphasis on mutual cooperation to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Munir emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the region. The Indonesian minister, in turn, appreciated the professional results of the Pakistani army, especially its role in the fight against terrorism.
