Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks with the United States Congress Delegation in Islamabad on Sunday, where lectures focused on terrorist fighting and strengthening bilateral investment ties.
The visiting delegation included congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson. Pakistan’s prime minister of interior Talal Chaugry, who served US ambassador Natalie Baker, and domestic secretary Khurram Agha also attended the meeting.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, discussions covered financial cooperation, trade, investment and security with special emphasis on terrorism and border security.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi Pakistan described as a “wall” between terrorism and the wider world and called for greater international cooperation.
“Terrorism is a global challenge, and the international community is urgent to cooperate with Pakistan,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.
Minister of the Interior called for deeper intelligence sharing and access to advanced terrorism technology.
Pakistan and the United States are scheduled to hold a dedicated terrorism dialog in June in the midst of an increase in militant violence in Pakistan’s western border areas with Afghanistan.
Islamabad has long accused Kabul of having had militants aimed at Pakistani forces, allegations rejected by the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan.
