Pakistan is re -utilized Constantine to Syria Clash in AFC Asian Cup qualifications

Karachi: Pakistan Football Federation has decided to re -use Stephen Constantine as head coach of the national team, Pakinomist News reported.

While an official message is not yet to be made, the decision comes when Pakistan stays up to the third round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifications, which marks a crucial phase in the country’s football trip.

However, according to sources, Constantine has been asked for coaching role only for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier match against Syria. A decision on prolonged appointment is made at a later date.

“He only comes for this qualification (against Syria). We don’t have enough time for any change, so we asked Stephen to return to this match, ”said a source in PFF.

Constantine previously administered the Pakistan team from 2023 to 2024. During his first stint with the Pakistan team, Shaheens managed to win the FIFA World Cup Qualifier match against Cambodia and for the first time ever in history, qualified for the second round of qualifications -though it could not go beyond that, but team showed a remarkable improvement during his time.

Stephen Constantine is a well -known name in Asian football, after managing several national teams across the continent, including India and Nepal. He is best known for his two successful terms of office with the Indian national team, where he improved India’s FIFA location and developed young talent significantly.

According to the sources, PFF has also confirmed Pakistan’s participation in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, a big step forward after the abolition of FIFA’s suspension,

Pakistan’s first match of the qualifications is scheduled for March 25, 2024 against Syria. The fight, Syria’s home game, is held in Saudi Arabia. According to sources, Constantine is ready to take responsibility for the team for this crucial fixture.
