On Thursday, the National Assembly adopted Pakistan Land Port Authority -Law Proposal, 2025, with dozens of amendments proposed by PPP legislative Syed Naveed Qamar.
The bill was piloted by prime minister for domestic and drugs controls Talal Chauhry in the house.
Syed Naveed Qamar suggested certain changes in clauses 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 16,18,20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 29, 35, 37 and 38, all of which were adopted by the house after the Minister did not resume.
The declaration of objects and reasons says that it is appropriate to establish an earth port authority to provide and manage an integrated system of facilities for cross -border movement of goods and passengers in Landhavns in Pakistan to provide the delivery of its operation, management, development of Jordhavn and affairs associated with it and help.
It is imperative to establish a robust mechanism to carry out effective coordination with border agencies for trade facilitation under Pakistan’s obligations under international agreements and conventions on improved soil harvest and regional port’s competitiveness.
